The Founder of FANIT Foundation is Arvis Lawson, he was born and raised in South Florida by a single grandmother who passed away while Arvis was 12 years old leaving Arvis to fend for himself on the rough streets of Liberty City.
Navigating through life without any real guidance, he was forced to believe the same things so many other young adults believe. That sports, music or crime was his only way out of poverty. Excelling in sports but then falling victim to his environment. He then had to deal with the consequences of his actions. Accepting responsibility for his shortcomings he spent two years in the federal prison system.
While being incarcerated it was there where he recants truly finding himself, reading a book called "Emotional Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman. Learning to deal with not only his emotions, but others helped him understand life better, with this new fond awakening FANIT was born.
Since being released from prison Mr. Lawson has managed to slow down gang violence and be a asset to his community not a liability.
A motivational speaker, community leader and mentor. Mr. Lawson partnered with Miami Dade and Broward County school board to mentor young athletes and students in preparing for life after high school, helping athletes get exposure for college athletics consideration and creating sporting events to acknowledge athletes for their hard work. Since 2018, Mr. Lawson has helped over 55 students receive Division 1 scholarships and other 100 receive college scholarships. Mr. Lawson has traveled across the country to support other programs, in feeding the community, developing food drives, and helping families receive supplies during these recent rough times.
Whether speaking at local high schools, parks, community centers, or juvenile justice programs, he makes the time to be there. In his free time he enjoys videography and photography.
